Alright mamas, I have had this baby item for a little while now, and have been coveting it for even longer.

Moms, listen up.  The Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play is worth every penny.
The rock ‘n play has not been available in Canada up until recently.  My sister in law from Chicago has had one for years (the basic model) and I always thought it was a genius design.  I have used the fisher price glider which was a hand me down from a friend, for my now 4, and 5 year old daughters. I loved it, and seriously prayed it would never break because I don’t think you can buy it anymore!  The design of the Rock ‘n Play Deluxe is even more genius!

This past spring I saw the Rock ‘n Play Deluxe Soothing Seats in action at a Fisher Price Play Day event in Toronto.  I literally jumped with joy when I saw they were available in Canada, and all the new cool features they had.
I had to wait a little bit to try it out, but about 9 weeks ago, our newest foster baby arrived and I have literally used it every day, and night since.

Our little one has reflux, so it was recommended by her Pediatrician to sleep in an elevated bassinet because she spits up so much, chokes on it, and is in a lot of discomfort when laying straight on her back – Insert feature number one of the Rock ‘n Play soothing seat.  It has the perfect 45 degree elevation without risking baby compromising their airway.

We actually use the Rock ‘n Play as her sleeping area for naps and part of night time.  Of course we give her breaks and she will nap in my arms, on my chest or on a flat surface so that she is getting a variety of different positions to sleep in, to help strengthen her muscles and make sure her perfect little head stays round. Majority of the time though, she sleeps in her Rock n’ Play.
The best part about the rock ‘n play is that it plugs in! I mean whoever thought baby swings, and bouncers or vibrating seats must run only on batteries must of invested in duracell.

It has 4 sound features

  1. Lullabies
  2. Stream, and cricket nature sound.
  3. Ocean and bird nature sound
  4. Straight White Noise

We use all 4 sounds at different times.  The music will automatically shut off after half an hour and it has volume controls.

It has 2 rocking speeds

Indicated by the turtle and the rabbit on the button.
It also has a vibrating feature that can be used alone or in combination with the rocking.
The buttons on the side are lit perfectly for a night light, without distracting the baby or shining right in their eyes.
The fabric is completely removable and machine washable.  There is a smaller insert in the seat area that can be washed alone without taking apart the whole seat incase baby has a blow out!  It has a 3 point harness, and a little toy attached for when your little one gets older and ready to play.
With one push of a button the frame folds up for easy storage, or transport.  I should also mention it was super easy to put together, and I did it on my own in a matter of minutes.
The best part about the Rock ‘n Play though is that you can now control it with your phone.  Both apple and android. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard baby fussing and I just press a button in the app, and turn on the rocking feature.  Without even having to get out of bed in the middle of the night.  I am in love with this feature!!

The Rock ‘n Play has a 25 lbs weight limit, and it is recommended to discontinue use when your baby can sit up on his own, or pull himself up using the sides. It will be a sad day when I have to pack it up! Good thing I am a foster mama. I am sure I will get plenty of use out of it for years to come!  You can purchase it online, or at major baby retailers.  It retails for around $120 Canadian $88 US.
If you are looking for baby gear that is going to make your life easier, then you need one of these in your life!  It has been a complete game changer for me! – Video at bottom of the post!
